Ajrakh Scarf | Dots on Grey Silk
$99.00
Block Print Silk Scarf
Designed and handcrafted by heritage artisans in India using a distinctive block print technique called Ajrakh.
Hand printed on a smooth lustrous silk. Traditional Ajrakh printing is rooted in the use of natural dyes, resists, and blocks made from wood and metal. This scarf features a key pattern motif; small resist dots printed with acacia gum. The block itself is made from metal nails hammered into a wooden base. Although traditionally Ajrakh prints are more elaborate, this design pulls out a mainstay motif to use in a minimal and timeless composition.

Each scarf bears the signature of the artisan’s handiwork. Inherent to the natural dye and handmade process are inconsistencies and variations. We ask that you view these not as imperfections, but as authentic markings of a traditional handmade process. All naturally dyed items will fade and patina over time. These are traits inherent to textiles dyed with plants and should be embraced.
