Embroidered Bandanas
Each embroidered piece is created using the same hand operated vintage chainstitch machines that were used to create traditional western wear. While most embroidery today is computerized and mass produced, the work done on these vintage machines is hand done and made one piece at a time. Chainstitch embroidery machines started being manufactured around 1911. They use a handle below the machine to steer and essentially draw with stitches.

Soft organic cotton dyed a deep pitch black . Rosey-Danna's wild rose pattern inspired by Art Deco illustrator George Barbier, 18th century French textiles. A detailed border pays tribute to Indian woodblock printing. Yep! This one is a real trip.

Naturally dyed with madder root, pomegranate and woodflower. Field-Danna is printed by hand with a pattern inspired by California allergy season, french sample books, and the town of Zalipie, Poland. (More on that mashup here.) Made from silk noil, a fabric with a slightly nubby texture that is naturally warm and wicking. Achoo! Bless you, flowered friend.
