Too tired to tie knots? Time to shine, bandana slide!  This one is handmade using a traditional sailor knot that looks like a pretty braid. We create each of these right here in the Last Chance Textiles Studio.

Concho Bandana Slide

Dress up your bandana or scarf with a traditional western-wear concho! The back has an adjustable double ring making it perfect for any size scarf or bandana.

Make Your Own Cyanotype Bandana

Create a one-of-a-kind bandana using one of the oldest forms of photography-Cyanotype. Also known as sun printing, this process blends chemistry, art, and nature for a satisfyingly hands-on project that is fun for everyone!

The BASIC KIT includes one cotton bandana, two cotton practice swatches, cyanotype chemistry, protective gloves, and glass beads for holding your objects in place.

Add-Ons

The kit comes with enough solution to create additional items, so we have included options to purchase socks and/or silk handkerchiefs for further cyanotype experimentation. Use the drop-down menu to add additional pieces to the basic kit.

Add two SILK HANKIES and we'll include two 100% silk handkerchiefs. Each is 11"x11" square with rolled hem. (+ $7.00)

Add a pair of SOCKS and we'll include a pair of bamboo socks that fit adult size 6-9. These are very soft and squishy and feel great! 94% Bamboo rayon and 6% Spandex. (+ $10.00)

Add both a pair of SOCKS and two SILK HANKIES for an additional $17.00.

FAQs

Q: Is there enough solution to do more items than what comes in the basic kit?

A: Yes, if you are careful and only mix what you need for each use, you'll have a little extra to create 1-3 more small projects.  Check out our optional add-ons for items we think make great additional projects!

Q: Can I only do this project on a sunny day?

A: This can be done on a cloudy day too but you should avoid precipitation.  It must be done outside because glass windows can sometimes block the UV light that triggers the chemical reaction that turns the molecules blue!

Q: Do I need supplies beyond what comes in the kit?

A: You'll need a flat portable work surface ( a flattened cardboard box works well) and a small non-food-use bowl or container to mix the solution in.

Wear clothes that you can get messy.  Gather your own objects for printing- we love collecting leaves outside, everyday objects like pasta, snack foods, and tools.

Each piece is unique, handcrafted from sterling silver and oxidized for a lived-in soulful keepsake. Handmade for us by Richard Schmidt Jewelry, a three generation family located in the historic town of La Grange, Texas.

These handcrafted slides are made by Mineral and Matter, a woman owned jewelry studio based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Bandana Patches to Mend Your Stuff

This kit makes tackling that mending pile fun.  Iron-on backing on each patch makes placement and stitching super easy.  We created this pack of assorted patches from our production scraps because we love up-cycling for zero-waste goals.

Each kit will have a unique assortment of patch colors and patterns including 1xtra-large, 1 large, 1 medium, and 4 small patches. Patterns and colors vary from kit-to-kit and the one you receive will inevitable look different than the one picture here.  We carefully assemble these kits in our Portland, OR studio and make sure each has an appealing selection of patches.  If you have your heart set on a certain pattern you can add a note at checkout and we'll do our best, but no guarantees.  Sometimes we run out of a color and that's that.
