HISTORIC TEXTILE OF THE MONTH

Some of my favorite textiles come from my own family. These braided rag rugs were made by my great grandmothers on both sides of my family. The rugs and chair cushions you see here are still used every day on our family farm in West Virginia, a reminder of the beauty and durability of handmade textiles passed down through generations. With Jamey's background in fine arts and welding and Constance's eye for textiles and color, the husband and wife team began creating together after relocating from the California coast to the high desert of West Texas in 2003. Inspired by the quiet beauty of the desert and their coastal roots, they founded Garza Marfa, a collection that blends the modern American West with the relaxed spirit of the West Coast.
