HISTORIC TEXTILE OF THE MONTH
Two colors, one repeating pattern, plenty to get lost in. This Double Bowknot coverlet from Berea College’s Appalachian Artifacts Collection pairs white linen with dark navy wool in a mesmerizing overshot weave. It's maker and date of creation are sadly lost to time, but the textile itself offers plenty to appreciate: contrasting textures, intricate repetition, and a design that still holds our attention today.
